Making Easter Crackle Nests

Today Room 2 went to the hall kitchen and made chocolate crackle nests.  We made them with Mars Bars, cocoa, cream and ricies.  We put the mixture into cupcake wrappers and put Easter eggs on top so they looked like a nest.


Here is the recipe so you can make them too.


Ingredients

• 200g Mars bars, chopped
• 2 tbs thin cream
• 2 tsp cocoa powder, sifted
• 3 cups Rice Bubbles
• 20 small Easter eggs, to decorate

Place the Mars bars, thin cream and cocoa in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (get an adult to help), making sure bowl does not touch water. Stir until melted and smooth. Place Rice Bubbles in a large bowl, pour in Mars bar mixture and stir until well combined. Pile mixture into paper cases and decorate each with an Easter egg. Place in the fridge until firm.

Mrs McFee's Hat

Toy's Stories

Yesterday we met Mrs Smith from the Salvation Army. She talked to us about toys. We talked to her about how the toys make us feel, and how we like to share them and play with them. She said we can make other people feel happy by sharing. We could share toys, games, books, colouring thing and balls that we don't really need anymore.  We can go through our things and talk with Mum and Dad about what we don't need and what we can give to other children.  We can make other people feel excited and happy about the toys we give them. This makes us feel proud.

Reading with Expression

In Room 2 we are practising reading with expression. We make sure we use the punctuation in the story to help us do this.  We made an iMovie of us reading our big book. We took photos of the pictures in our big book, and recorded each page. Miss Dippie helped us with the first few pages, then each group did their own page!

Toy's Stories

Today we are starting our inquiry "Toy's Stories." First for our inquiry we are 'diving in.' This means we are finding out about toys and why they are special to us.
Miss Dippie brought in her doll from when she was little.  She got her doll from Santa when she was 2.  Her doll is called Clara.  She got it just before her sister was born. That is why it is special to her.  We are sharing our special toys with each other today and talking about why they are special to us.

Our Beach Visit

Today for Friday Fun Day, we had Discovery at the beach. We walked down to the beach, with Pip, Libby, Miss Dippie,  Room 1 and Room 3.  We made some sandcastle,  huts, sand sculptures and some people even made a city in the sand. We used our Unity value and all worked together!

Discovery

Today for Discovery we have been learning to use the iPads to take photos and videos.
We learnt how to use the volume button to take photos and videos. Using this button means we hold the ipad still and we don't get any blurry photos.
We took some photos  and videos of Room 5 testing their parachutes.  Then we learnt how to add the photos and video into iMovie.

Miss Dippie has made a new page called iMovies.  Check out our first attempt.

Next week we are making parachutes with Mrs Bird. We will need to bring a plastic bag to school.
